Choosing the Right Battery Operated Spy Camera
January 28, 2018 By Adam Hubbard
Battery Operated Spy Cameras are perfect for short term covert surveillance in the home and office environment. Most Battery Operated covert devices don't have visible unnatural cables therefor they can be rapidly deployed in a variety of areas such as kitchen and dinning rooms, living and recreational areas, bedrooms, garage and work shops, boardrooms, office spaces, and communal gathering areas in the workplace.
Battery operated spy cameras are designed to imitate normal everyday accessories including, digital and analog clocks, digital radios, books, key fobs, USB storage devices, fake motion detectors, and tool kits, etc.
Although battery operated spy cameras are handy when trying to obtain hard to get video footage, they are limited by the life or charge of the battery. Many providers will claim that their battery powered spy cameras will operate for up to 1 year before needing to be replaced. The truth is some battery powered cameras will last a few hours. Either way, if you have to return to the area you have under surveillance just to replace a battery you will most likely compromise your device.
What to look for in a Battery-Operated Spy Camera
Picture Quality – You should ensure that your camera can record quality footage in both the day and night environment. You should also look for a camera that has a resolution of at least 1080p. We supply battery operated spy cameras ranging from 1080p, 2k, and 4k resolution. The higher the resolution the better chance you will obtain detailed images that help you identify an individual or relevant details.
Motion Activated – You should check to see if your battery operated spy camera has the ability to operate in the Motion Activation mode. When a camera is set to record in the Motion Activation mode it will only activate and record video to the hard drive when the camera detects motion. This will increase the battery life of the camera and save hard drive storage space. Be sure to check the sensitivity of the motion detection settings as cameras may vary.
Storage Capacity – Just as a weak battery may negatively impact your covert surveillance operation, so can a spy camera with a small or limited storage space capacity. You should always choose a battery-operated spy camera that has a large Hard Drive. There is not point in having to return to the site just to replace or download video.
Ability to Blend in – You should choose a product that suits the area that you wish to deploy the camera. If the battery-operated spy camera does not belong in the area or it is not consistent with the general décor of the room then it will stand out like a pink elephant and be found. We recommend that you choose spy camera that looks identical or is the same as an existing item and swap them out. Alternatively you may choose a device the can easily be turned into an everyday item.
Easily to deploy – You must consider how you wish to deploy or install the battery-operated spy camera.
Do you need tools?
Do you know how to deploy the Camera?
Can you access the site, both to deploy the camera and to replace batteries?
These are all questions that you must consider before purchasing. The more time you can save setting up a device in the target area the more likely it is that you succeed.
Video footage transmission and remote viewing – You should consider how you want to view the footage. You may want to monitor your children while you are inside the house. Alternatively, you may want to monitor your employees while you are in your office. If this is the case then you should choose a battery-operated spy camera that allows you to remotely transmit video by a wireless transmission to a remote viewing device or table.
Records Audio – If you are looking to record audio you need to consider how far the device will be located from the audio source. Some battery-powered cameras record audio very well, some are lacking in that compartment. If you are deploying the battery-powered camera in a workplace or public area you should also be aware of the local laws regarding privacy.
I hope these tips help you in your quest for finding the right battery operated spy camera. Six Technologies is always open to any questions or suggestions you may have.
